Khakiness

This khaki fabric is made up of a blend of cotton and a hint of lycra, it has a light crinkled appearance on the surface giving it an interesting texture and the great thing about this fabric is that it does not crease easily.  I decided to make a little belted off the shoulder dress with some matte bronze sequins on the sleeve and a basic adjustable tie dress with a floral brooch.

Taupiness

These few pieces are made from a very lightweight 100% cotton, the base colour is taupe with fine tone on tone lines running through it.

Lacey Greys

The colour of this fabric is a pearl grey which leans slightly towards green, it is a very fine and matte lace that falls really nicely.  I decided to keep the silhouettes simple because the lace design itself is already quite a lot just on its own. I managed to get two little dresses, a waistcoat, a little clutch bag and a few floral brooches out of the last few metres that were left on the roll in the shop. I really wish there had been a little more left; it is such a relaxing, fresh colour.

Pastel Mints

These pieces are made from a fresh minty chiffon, giving the blouse and the little dress some transparency.  I added some cotton lace and an elasticated waistline to the blouse as well as a floral brooch, a white braided jersey belt and transparent plastic beads to the little dress.

Peachy Petals

These pieces are made from a peachy 100% cotton which has very fine cream pinstripes.  The fabric is very light which makes it perfect for a little blouse and a summer dress with braided jersey belts as well as a little waistcoat.  The floral appliqués are actually brooches which can be re-arranged as desired.

Mélange

What I love about this lightweight 100% cotton grey mélange is that the surface is slightly fuzzy because of the contamination in the fabric.  Its very sharp, clean look makes it perfect for workwear and very simple shapes.

Denim dreams

I love this fabric, it looks like denim but it is actually just a lightweight 100% cotton crepe which is great because it has the denim look but without being too stiff or too hot.  I added some cotton lace as embellishment to the little shorts and the blouse for a nostalgic, vintage feel.

Pretty pinstripes

These two pieces are made from black pinstripe chiffon, I used white cotton lace on the little blouse to bring out the optical white in the fabric and attached black beads to the adjustable strap dress.

Goody two-shoes

These strappy silver sandals were used for my final fashion show in Florence a few years ago, I originally had eight pairs which were quickly distributed once I got back to Mauritius. Having two pairs of size 39 left, I decided to play around with them and to add some floral chiffon accessories to the ankle straps to give them a little sparkly touch.

Lovely lace

When I found this lovely turquoise lace, how could I not turn it into little princess dresses? The colour is so stunning and fresh, and what I love most about this fabric is that is is matte.  I was so excited while working on these pieces that I decided to make a little clutch bag and floral accessories with the left over fabric to match the garments.
